One of the iconic Italian ski resorts Cortina d’Ampezzo grew up almost parallel to famous St.Moritz in Austria, which actually was a model to follow for Cortina and many of other established today ski resorts in Europe. Some 160 years ago British and German travellers discovered the charm of Dolomites. The base for their hiking became the small Ladine village Cortina, which in following years, due to new road Alemagna and train connection with Venice and Milano became a popular place for multinational tourists and Austrian aristocracy.
